  • Scripts to download genes

    Hello everyone!

I'm new here as well as in bioinformatics area.
I need to download a loooot of genes from a specific website using a script but my coding background is limited.
I would be really glad if some of you could help me with this.

    Thank you for your attention,

which is the "specific website" you're talking about? without this information it's pretty hard to provide you with useful hints.

      I'm so sorry!
It's the gene ontology site: http://www.geneontology.org/
There, using specific terms (such as "virus receptor activity") it's possible to find all the genes associated with that term.

So, i'll have a list of terms to use (let's say about 20 terms or something) and i'll want to download all the genes associated with them.

Using your example you can see that you are able to custom download the genes (blue button at the top right of the page). Add any additional fields you want.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
            by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

            Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
            by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
