  • Bioinfo-Core Conference Call, October 17, 2017 (11 AM EDT, local times around world)

Bioinfo-core is a worldwide body of people that manage or staff bioinformatics facilities within organizations of all types including academia, academic medical centers, medical schools, biotechs and pharmas. We hold several events throughout the year including quarterly conference calls and a yearly workshop at the annual meeting, Intelligent Systems in Molecular Biology (ISMB), the official conference of ISCB.

    The next world-wide bioinfo-core conference call will be held on - Tuesday, October 17th, 2017 at 11am EST / 8am PST / 16:00 GMT.

Agenda for this call has been posted on Bioinfo-Core web site.

If you are interested in attending this call please leave a comment below (do not leave any email addresses/personal information). That would give us an idea of level of interest in the call. I will update this post with the call-in information a week before the actual call.

Note: Conference call system we have used in past provides local toll-free numbers in many areas/countries around the world. You will want to check into this once the call info is posted.

    Thanks!

This announcement is also posted at Biostars. Please use only one location to let us know of your interest in the call. We can then get a reasonably accurate measure of people who will likely call in.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
      by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

      Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
      by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
