  • CHI's Beyond Sequencing June 21-23, 2010

    Hi, guys!

I'm new to the community, and to the world of genomics/sequencing in general I recently started working for Cambridge Healthtech Institute as a Marketing Manager, and am now in charge of promoting their new Beyond Sequencing conference.

I wanted to spread the word about it here (the advanced deadline is March 26, and you can get a pretty good discount on your registration), and introduce myself too I'll have the final agenda on the site in a couple of days, and I'll update this post when it's up.

    Thanks!

    CHI's Beyond Sequencng
    June 21-23, 2010
    Hotel Kabuki
    San Francisco, CA

    Website: www.beyondsequencing.com
    Registration link: https://chidb.com/register/2010/bsq/reg.asp

Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s Inaugural Beyond Sequencing: Strategies for Success, held in San Francisco from June 22 – 23, 2010, will focus on efficient utilization of your NGS platform. Sessions will cover common bottlenecks, case studies, real-world experiences and solutions from experienced users. Additionally, two emerging applications for metagenomics and deep re-sequencing for cancer will be showcased as well as the latest results in the 1,000 Genomes Project.

      Hi, guys -

If you're thinking about attending Beyond Sequencing in SF in June, see if you can register by next Friday: the admission price is at its lowest right now ($625 for conf admission for academics, and $745 for package including workshop).

Prices will jump up slightly after next Friday, so if your boss clutches those purse strings tightly, this might be the only time to get the approval

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
              by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

              Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
              by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
