  • New! Ovation RNA-Seq System V2 from NuGEN Technologies

We are pleased announce the release of our second generation kit for RNA-Seq applications. Along with the core features of our original system - low pg input of total RNA without the need for rRNA reduction or poly(A)+ selection, the Ovation RNA-Seq System V2 features:

    Superior transcript coverage
Uniform read coverage across the transcriptome and exons
    Improved detection of RefSeq genes

    Streamlined workflow
cDNA product can be cloned directly by NGS library construction methods
Overall protocol shortened to 4.5 hours
    Fewer kit components

Please see our product web page for more information about this product and examples of improved read coverage - http://www.nugeninc.com/nugen/index....seq-system-v2/

    Best,
    Steve

RNA seq Human CSF w/ Hiseq and pacbio, Nugen library

    hi
this site has been invaluable in my introduction to sequencing. It has allowed me to develop a lightly funded research plan with consensus evaluation of available technology including platforms and library prep. thanks to all, and as I begin this foray I will attempt to share my experiences with a metagenomic RNA seq of human CSF, using NUGEN and Hiseq followed by pac bio.

      Nugen

as far as I can tell, only Nugen can create an amplified library without poly A selection bias, with good coverage, and simultaneously exclude rRNA. miraculous actually. in searching for disease causing micro-organisms, entire classes of viruses (+ strand RNA viruses) and mycoplasma are not detected if one selects only polyA amplified transcripts for sequencing. I will be using this soon in coming weeks and post my experience.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
        by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

        Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
        by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
