  • DNASTAR Workshop on Cancer Genomics at ASHG

As part of the ASHG 2012 Annual Meeting in San Francisco, DNASTAR is sponsoring a workshop on Wednesday, November 7 from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm in Room 301 at the Moscone Center.

Registration is free. Beverages and hors d'oeuvres will be provided.

Dr. William Strauss of Cynvenio Biosystems will discuss his experience using DNASTAR software for analysis of oncogenic mutations in circulating tumor cells.

In addition, Matthew Keyser will demonstrate DNASTAR’s capabilities related to a broad range of next-gen sequence assembly and analysis projects, including targeted resequencing, statistically based SNP calling, and assembly and analysis of multiplexed samples. He will also show how to use the software to analyze clinical sequencing data.

You can register for the workshop at http://www.dnastar.com/forms.aspx?fo...&wave=ASHG2012

We look forward to seeing you at the conference!

    Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

    Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
    by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
