  • ABI 3730xl data collection software 3.0 will not import plate

    Hello SEQanswers,

So our 3730 data collection software 3.0 just began giving us the following error when we try to import a new plate for a run:

    1 plate(s) to import...
fnorante_2012-06-07_Exp12083_Bioculture1_BC033-BC048.plt -- Can not create DB record container fnorante_2012-06-07_Exp12083_Bioculture1_BC033-BC048

Has anyone come across this before or knows how to fix it. So far I have already cleared the database cache and defragmented the C: drive, not the Oracle partitions. All of this was working about a week ago.

Any help will be greatly appreciated,

What does ABI support suggest? Usually it's the fastest way to get help in such cases, as these "database things" are always a bit of vodoo ;-)

We had called them and they recommended a service visit, but currently our service contract has lapsed. We are waiting for people in administration to renew that before we would have them come out here.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
        by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

        Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
        by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
