Overview
The Walters Lab in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at the University of Kansas is seeking a Post-Doctoral Researcher to join an NSF-funded project developing an R/Bioconductor package focused on applying linear mixed models to RNA-seq data, with a primary aim of analyzing of sex chromosome dosage compensation. Description and Qualifications
The primary responsibilities of this position are the development, testing, and documentation of this nascent Bioconductor package. Substantial opportunity is also expected for pursuing additional/independent research projects concerning genome biology and tailored to suit the interests and skills of the successful applicant. Ideally such projects will overlap focal research areas in the Walters lab, including functional/comparative/population genomics, sex chromosome evolution, sexual selection, and reproductive biology.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in R programming and package development, extensive experience with bioinformatics and functional genomics, strong statistical and quantitative skills, a clear record of independent research leading to quality publications, and excellent communication skills.

Timing and Salary
Initial review of applications will begin April 23, 2018 and continue as long as needed to identify a qualified pool. The anticipated start date is June 18, 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year.
