Question How to confidently classify a lncRNA

Hello, everyone!

I'm working on a project to detect lncRNAs from human tumor samples to identify metastasis related molecules. I'm doing RNA-Seq, using Illumina GA, and I've just got my data...and I have a question:

What is the best way to classify a molecule as a lncRNA?? Do we classify it by the gene type or by the transcrip type?

I'm asking this question because in my mapping results I found, for example, genes classified as lncRNAs which had miRNAs as transcripts.

Thanks!

Can you explain this a little better?
