Default Meaning of "Lane" in Solexa Sample Preparation

Dear all,

In solexa output in this format:

Code:
 s_N_export_brainX.txt
The manual shows that "N" refers to Lane number,
and X as 'number of days'.

My question is given this dataset:

Code:
s_1_export_brain15.txt
s_2_export_brain15.txt
s_3_export_brain15.txt
s_4_export_brain15.txt
does it comes from 1 sample then "break" into four files OR
each file comes from 4 different samples?

4 different lanes on the flowcell. Could be from the same sample though.
