The Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg, Germany, invites applications for the position of a:
Research Assistant
to support our deep-sequencing facility and a sequencing unit. The position is available immediately for an initial period of two years. We currently have a Genome Analyzer (Illumina) that generates genome-wide data for many projects at the institute, with a particular focus on epigenetic questions.
We are looking for motivated team players with strong communication skills and the desire to work in a dynamic environment. The successful applicant will have a good understanding of molecular biology and the ability to perform high quality analyses in a responsible and independent manner. Candidates with prior experience in the operation of a deep-sequencing facility or other high-throughput techniques are strongly preferred.
Qualifications:
- education in a biological science or a related field
- previous experience with lab work
- good knowledge of molecular biology techniques
- good oral and written communication skills in English
Tasks:
- organize, schedule, and monitor sequencing projects
- sample preparation and quality control
- consult and train colleagues
Salaries will be according to fellowships of the Max-Planck-Society or TVöD and will commensurate with experience. A childcare facility is directly attached to the institute.
