Default ORF Finder-Metagenome

I've finished my first metagenome assembly and would like to know if there is a good ORF finder I could try out before proceeding to functional annotation with CAMERA for example.

Prodigal is really good. It's got a *meta* switch.

Thank you, I also found out CAMERA has an ORF finder as well.

vanillasky...are you mining assemblies for specific genes/enzymes?

i'm trying to figure out a more automated way of picking out ORFs that relate to specific enzyme families.

Hi Lac302! Maybe you can clarify what you mean by mining assemblies? I am interested in annotating the contigs coming out of my assembled metagenomes. Ultimately, yes I would like to focus on those contigs containing genes related to a certain function.
