Default Useful to run total RNA along with RIPseq?

I have some RNA isolated from an RNA immunoprecipitation. I was wondering if I should also sequence the (input) total RNA and what advantage/use this might have during the analysis stage following sequencing.

Please let me know if you need more information about my project to answer this question.

Thanks!
