Default Switching file formats

Does anybody know of a good resource explaining how to convert file formats? I'm interested in mapping a .sra file onto the genome to look for splicing variation, but I don't know how to convert .sra to gtf or something more amenable.

SRA can't be converted to GTF, at least not in any meaningful way. Presumably the SRA file contains reads, so fastq-dump those and then map them.

No wonder I was getting nowhere! Thanks, I'll try that.
