Position: Postdoctoral Fellow, Computational Cancer Biology
Site: MaRS Centre, Toronto Department: Informatics and Bio-computing Reports To: Dr. Paul Boutros Salary: Commensurate with level of experience Hours: 35 Hrs/week Status: Full-Time Contract, 2 years The Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) is seeking a postdoctoral fellow in Computational Cancer Biology in the laboratory of Dr. Paul Boutros. We have generated multiple independent genomic analyses of a cohort of colon cancer patients, including mRNA and DNA microarrays, RNA-seq (ABI SOLiD), whole genome-sequencing (PacBio and Illumina Hi-Seq) and RNAi functional screen data. Rich clinical annotation is also available on these samples and the successful candidate will work in a collaborative team of biologists, computer scientists, and statisticians on the integrative analysis of all these datasets. Projects can include aspects of methods development, pre-processing and univariate statistical analyses and integrative systems biology. Analysis of these data will be performed on cutting-edge IT infrastructure including a multi-petabyte storage system and a 3,500-core compute farm. QUALIFICATIONS • A PhD in computational biology, engineering, mathematics, computer sciences or molecular biology; • Statistical background, such as machine-learning, survival or Bayesian techniques; • Strong experience in software and database programming (R, Perl, SQL); • Knowledge of biological sequence algorithmic and analysis tools; • Strong knowledge of molecular biology; knowledge of cancer biology is an asset; • Team-player, interested in working in a fast-paced and highly collaborative environment with biologists, computer scientists, statisticians, and clinicians; • Previous postdoctoral training in any of these fields is an asset, but not required. OICR is an innovative new cancer research institute located in the MaRS Centre in the Discovery District in downtown Toronto.
