  • PhD position in cancer genomics and bioinformatics, Basel, Switzerland

    Description: We are seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to join the Institute of Pathology, University Hospital Basel, Basel, Switzerland under the supervision of Dr Charlotte K Y Ng and Dr Salvatore Piscuoglio. Dr Ng and Dr Piscuoglio employ multi-omics approaches to identify biomarkers and to study tumor evolution in cancer. The laboratory has extensive collaborations with top national and international investigators in molecular pathology and cancer ‘omics. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop, apply and optimize cutting-edge bioinformatics methods, in particular those for massively parallel sequencing, to further our understanding of cancer biology.

    Qualifications: The primary requirement is a strong interest and motivation in becoming acquainted with and conducting research in bioinformatics and its application to cancer research. An MSc in biology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, computational biology or related discipline is required. The ideal candidate would have strong oral and written communications skills in English. Basic programming skills (e.g. R, perl, python) is highly desirable.
