Default Maximum mate pair insert size?

Hi

I've read in both 454 and Illumina documentation that 20kb insert lengths are supported by the mate pair protocols. However all of the sequencing centres I've contacted offer a much lower maximum insert length. Has anyone nailed 20kb inserts? Can anyone offer this as a service?

Thanks!

We have done it for 454 libraries, but it us not easy and a lot of work. So we only offer it when we are part if a collaboration, and prefer not to have it as a standard service...

I heard some one at CPHx was doing 25kb inserts on SOLiD, too, so it isn't impossible. Anyone doing something bigger?
