Hi everyone -
I've been a stalker for a while and now finally a member ...
In my career, I've been lucky enough to have been working with genomic information and tool packages in both Industry and Academia for [gasp] 16 years.
Recently, I've started working with the Penn State Galaxy project. I've also been working on and off with UCSC's Genome Browser team for close to 6 years. Before that, I was with Incyte Pharmaceuticals/Genomics/Corporation for 10 years, where we changed our name a lot and I was fortunate enough to be there at the beginning and to turn off the light on my way out of the Palo Alto site.
I am a hybrid scientist, techie, project/staff manager, and teacher. I'll tell you that I don't code, but that would be a lie, I just don't do it for anyone else. I also do not do active research anymore, which would not be a lie, but I still have pretty strong opinions about what constitutes valid research methods. But, I am great at helping others to do both, which I also think is not a lie, but perhaps you'll all let me know.
Hopefully, I'll be able to learn a lot and help out a bit where I can.
Nice to be here!
jen
