  • Symposium of the Polish Bioinformatics Society - Call for contribution

Submission and registration for the XII Symposium of the Polish Bioinformatics Society is now open!

We cordially invite all members of Polish Bioinformatics Society but also ISCB and non-associated colleagues to contribute to the symposium.

This year the symposium will be held in Krakow - City of Polish Kings - on 19-21 September 2019. We encourage in particular young colleagues to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations - due June 9th.

For further details please visit the conference webpage:
    www.ptbi.org.pl/website/conferences/ptbi2019/
    and register there.
Discounts for PBIS and ISCB members available!

    Confirmed Keynotes:
    • Eugene Koonin - NCBI, U.S.A.
    • Vilda Purutcuoglu - METU, Turkey
    • Sebastian Glatt - Max Planck/MCB, Poland

We look forward to seeing you in Krakow!

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
      by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

      Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
      by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
