    Genomics and Bioinformatics Research Technician - Ref.: 2015/35

    Starting date: December 15, 2015.

    Salary range: 24.000-30.000 € (brute, before taxes) commensurate with formal training and experience.

    Job Description

    Qualified combined expertise technician to support genomics and bioinformatics unit core facility service activities.
    Duties will include day to day tasks related to genomics data bioinformatic and statistical analysis and, on a needs basis, the execution of laboratory procedures using next generation sequencing and microarray technologies.

    Main Responsibilities
    Genomics data quality control, preprocessing and analysis and support in experiment execution (including nucleic acid sample quality control, sample processing and labeling) for assays including mRNA and miRNA expression profiling, DNA genotyping, DNA sequencing, copy number and variant analysis, chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing and DNA methylation profiling.

    Requirements
    Background: B.S. (with minimum 2 years experience in Bioinformatics and/or Molecular Biology)
    Languages: English and Spanish (required), Catalan is the local co-oficial language
    Skills: Demonstrable working knowledge of linux operating system and basic to advanced programming skills (in bash, perl, python and/or R). Good working knowledge of molecular biology techniques (such as gel electrophoresis, nucleic acid purification and enzymatic manipulation and PCR). Familiarity with open source bioinformatics and statistical analysis tools applied to genomic data and/or with genomics technologies (next generation sequencing and/or microarrays) and/or the use of specialized equipment used in genomics research (DNA sequencers, lab-on-a-chip analyzers, microarrays scaners, liquid handling robots, etc) will be highly valued. Besides the requested technical skills, we are looking for applicants with excelent organizational, laboratory record keeping, interpersonal and communication abilities, to work in detail-oriented tasks in a team setting with a commitment to service.
