The MGH Pathology Department is a leader in the application of genomic technologies to the study of human disease, covering diverse fields such as personalized cancer medicine, integrative tumor profiling and targeted genome editing. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work with our team of clinicians, biologists and statisticians to employ and develop computational tools for the analysis of high-dimensional clinical and research data. The successful candidate will join a thriving bioinformatics community and become involved in a range of ongoing efforts, with examples including: correlation of clinical outcomes with high-throughput tumor DNA sequencing data (http://abcnews.go.com/video/playerIndex?id=7740568), analysis of epigenome-wide profiling data from experimental cancer model systems (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20569696) and optimization of genome engineering tools (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21822273).
Principal Duties:
•Work with clinicians, basic scientists and computational biologists to evaluate, select and apply bioinformatics tools for high-dimensional biomedical data
•Write software to implement novel analysis algorithms developed by members of our group
•Maintain analysis pipelines
•Produce software documentation for developers and end-users
•Participate in collaborative research projects with investigators at MGH, the Broad Institute and other partner institutions
Skills Required:
Required:
•Strong analytical skills
•Algorithm development and programming experience
•Desire and proven ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
•Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
Preferred:
•Formal software engineering experience
•Experience with high-level scripting languages (R and Python preferred) and Linux
•Familiarity with molecular biology concepts
•Experience with high-dimensional biomedical data and technology platforms
Required Education:
Required: BS
Preferred: BS/MS in the quantitative or physical sciences, or related fields
Experience:
Preferred: 1+ years working with high-dimensional biological datasets
