Question What Assemblers do, if there are Ns in the reads?

I'm dealing with Illumina data for transcriptome study.

I could not find the clues about what the assembers (e.g. Trinity, Oases, SOAPdenovo-trans, Trans-ABySS)do, if there are Ns in the reads.
E.g. change N to A, T, G,C randomly, discard that read or something else?

Could any body help?
THX!
