    From GI numbers to protein family

    Dear all,
    I am processing blast outputs of protein sequences and I would like to classify those protein hits into families so I wonder if it exists a database relating:

    GI number --> Protein family ID

    and then of course

    Protein family ID --> Protein family description

    It would be great if I could download text tables which I could include in my scripts to do that automatically.
    Any help is very appreciated.
