The University of Manchester's distance learning course, 'Bioinformatics for Systems Biology' will begin again in October 2012. In the course we demonstrate how experimental data, such as measurements of differential expression, can be integrated into a model.
http://octette.cs.man.ac.uk/bioinfor...msbiology.html The course can be taken as a single unit, or the credits earned could count towards the distance Masters in Digital Biology. http://octette.cs.man.ac.uk/bioinfor...ons/index.html Bioinformatics for Systems Biology covers: * the use of models in biology; * structure and use of public pathway and interaction databases; * reconstruction of biological networks from experimental data; * network statistics; * interpretation of experimental data in the network context; * advanced topics. You will find links to details of all our online courses here : http://octette.cs.man.ac.uk/bioinformatics/index.html If you have any questions about the distance programme in Digital Biology, or would like to apply, please contact our office for Advanced Professional Education (ape@cs.man.ac.uk). |

This particular course is suitable for those with a background in a life science or in computer science. If you need personal guidance, please send me a private message.

This course is at Masters level, so the normal entry qualification is a good first degree in a life science or in computer science. Please mail me privately if you would like to discuss your qualifications in more detail.
Yes, we normally have a mix of people from academia and from industry. Some people take the course to learn new methods to apply in their current work, and others plan to change track. The fee this year is 1260 GBP. |

We have accepted people with degrees other than biology or computer science, but with additional courses or work experience in one of these areas.
I gave the module fee above. The full Masters programme has six modules and a research project. The current project fee is £3525. The fees will probably increase slightly each year, but students only pay for the module(s) taken in each semester. |
