  • You Determine the Next Innovative Technology

    just a quick survey,
What type of technologies/devices/services that would improve your current work flow?
Is it shearing? QC? Quantification? etc...
Think of process that you wish you could eliminate if you could or devices that you wish you could have to streamline your work flow.

Automatic espresso dispenser in the prep room......
Other than that, one machine that will prep all library types.

That would be nice to have one prep for all library type, but how often do research company have multiple platforms at their facility. Many tend to focus on one type of sequencer and do one library prep over and over again. Maybe not just automating many library type, but just one robust system from start to finish?

By all library types, I mean all library types for the same platform. Fragment, Exon Capture, Whole Transcriptome, Small RNA, Mate Paired etc. All for the SOLiD or for the Illumina. I know several companies are working on this, I look forward to seeing how they perfect it. As a core lab that services a university, we see all kinds of libraries so being able to reliably automate would help streamline things.

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
          by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist on Modified Bases...

          Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
          by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
