  • Innovative Solutions vs AMPure

Today we were visited by folks from Innovative Solution who were promoting their PCRClean and DNA SizeSelect purification kits. They claim that side-by-side with AMPure, we would get far better results with their kits. The PCRClean will remove any fragments less than 120 bp. And their DNA SizeSelector-454 are designed to retain greater than 500 bp. Has anyone tried these products yet? And if so, can you provide feedback?

I get excellent results from Ampure so I find it hard to believe you can get far better results from any other system. I'll be interested to hear about this too.

It has a higher range of size selection (above 1kb), but it more challenging to use for automation as the beads settle out of the less viscous solution.

I have limited experience with it, seems like it could be beneficial for larger insert gel-free protocols.

        Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
        by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
