    TCGA sample type

    Hi,
I am using the TCGA. It is useful. But I had some questions about the Sample type.I got some information, like code tables report tells me that 01 means Primary solid Tumor. However it maybe should be more in detail, such as 06 means Metastatic, I don't know the cancer cell transferred before the surgery or after. And I don't know whether the metastatic sample is from the breast or not when the breast cancer sample type is 06. I also don't understand that 07 means Additional Metastatic, what dose the "additional metastatc" mean? I am very confused.

I am looking forward to your answers!

    Thanks for your help!

You can download clinical data collected by the BCR using the DAM:

The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) is a landmark cancer genomics program that sequenced and molecularly characterized over 11,000 cases of primary cancer samples. Learn more about how the program transformed the cancer research community and beyond.

If you enter any "disease code" you can find all open access BCR data here:

    https://tcga-data.nci.nih.gov/tcgafiles/ftp_auth/distro_ftpusers/anonymous/tumor/"disease code"/bcr/

The disease, tissue, and data codes can be queried here:
