tophat in background

Hi all,

When running tophat (opensuse 11.4) on our server, I have to keep the terminal window on my desktop computer open otherwise, tophat quits when it goes to the next step (e.g. from python to bowtie or from segment_juncs to the following step). This is really annoying and I'd like tophat to work in the background.

Do someone know how to achieve this?

Try using "screen" on the server to detach and re-attach your terminal session as necessary.

"man screen" gives you the details, but the most important are "Ctrl-a Ctrl-d" to detach from an active session, and "screen -r" to re-attach to a detached session.
