  • A software resource list for next-generation sequencing (NGS)

    Dear All,

Current software and database resources for high-throughput sequencing (HTS) are extremely fragmented. OMICtools is a manually curated central directory that provides an overview of more than 1800 web-accessible tools related to HTS and microarrays.

    Regards,

    Arnaud

What is the difference between your database and the list of NGS software in the SEQanswers SeqWiki?

The current resources for NGS informatics are extremely fragmented. The goal of ArrayDirectory is to help the scientific community to find NGS software.

      Software submission is free.

      Contributions are most welcome.

Is there a reason to start a new thread when you already have one here: http://seqanswers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33845

Hmm .. not sure why you closed that thread?

        Dear GenoMax,

I have closed my last post because I did two typos in the title "A new website thet may help to you find software about NGS".

I didn't know how to modify the title.

        Best regards

          Dear Mastal,

Thank you for this important question.

I think that both website are complementary. The wiki page (http://seqanswers.com/wiki/Software) is a little more for advanced users.

We have tried to do an educational website for life scientists with little computing experience (Images and short descriptions for each category; New schemas are also coming soon).

The table below shows some differences between ArrayDirectory and SEQwiki wich illustrate complementarity of both sites.

          Website: ArrayDirectory/SEQwiki
          Software link: 1274/641
          Link checker: Yes/No
          Curation: Yes/No
          Update: Every week/Last update: 29 May 2013, at 07:19
          Maintened: Yes/Yes
          Language information: No/Yes
          Operating system information: No/Yes

You can use both depending of your request questions.

          I hope answering your question.

          Best regards

              Dear All,

ArrayDirectory changes its name, call me now OMICtools!

              New features:
-Image maps. They describe the different stages of analysis for each application (DNA-seq, RNA-seq, etc.)
              -Glossary
              -Social networks

              Best regards

I have added a new category in OMICtools for Sanger sequencing.
Relatively few nonproprietary software tools are available to assist with this process. Please tell me if you know other software.
