  • Seaching for mutation of a single gene from numerous genomes

    Hi all,

I am pretty new in bioinformatics and I need help for one of my project. I am currently studying quite a few of genes from 50+ genomes. The objective is to investigate the mutation presence in these genes. I want to know which nucleotide (e.g. G152A, C1854G) and which codon (V57I, L162F) has the mutation.

What I currently do is alignt the gene using MEGA and search for mutation sequence by sequence.

May I know what are the faster ways to do this kind of mutation search?

    Thank you so much

If you have cDNA go to 152*3 for G152A mutation
in normal codon usage G to A mutation happens by codons GAX->GGX similarly if you keep codon table in front of you and look into mutations, it is easy to guess what is mutated and the trace on cDNA or genomic region.

I am doing that, but investigating 18 genes from 62 bactertial genomes using MEGA can be pretty slow. Wonder is that any software which I can use to speed up the process. :-)

Advancing Precision Medicine for Rare Diseases in Children
        by seqadmin

Many organizations study rare diseases, but few have a mission as impactful as Rady Children’s Institute for Genomic Medicine (RCIGM). “We are all about changing outcomes for children,” explained Dr. Stephen Kingsmore, President and CEO of the group. The institute’s initial goal was to provide rapid diagnoses for critically ill children and shorten their diagnostic odyssey, a term used to describe the long and arduous process it takes patients to obtain an accurate...
