  • help with ftp files from dbSNP

    Hi All,

I have questions about some files that I donwloaded via ftp from dbSNP (ftp://ftp.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/snp/datab.../nematode_6239)

In both GtyFreqBySsPop.bcp.gz and GtyFreqBySsPop.bcp.gz files the IDs for genotypes are codified using 29, 39, 42, 43. I don't known to which genotypes correspond these numbers and I haven't found any explanation. And if this numbers actually refer to genotypes I think there should be more than 4 categories...

Something similar happens with the file SNPAlleleFreq.bcp.gz. In this case there are 4 codes that correspond to alleles, my guess is that 2->G, 4->T, 6->A and 7->C. But again I couldn't find any explanation to confirm this.

Any help will be very useful!

See if the codes you are looking for are in the shared_data directory here: ftp://ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/snp/database/shared_data/

      Many thanks!

I've found the answer in files Allele.bcp and UniGty.bcp
