The newly founded Institute for Molecular Biology gGmbH (IMB) is an Excellence Center for Life Science, funded by the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation, and located in Mainz, Germany. The institute is about to set up a Genomcis Facility, focusing on Next Generation Sequencing and Microarrays.
The successful candidates will be responsible for handling and processing of large amounts of high throughput sequence data. You will implement and develop software tools provided by academic and commercial partners to analyze research topics in the fields of epigenetics, developmental biology and DNA repair, and work in interdisciplinary teams.

You will
- Support in-house scientists in High Throughput Sequencing analysis from experimental planning, data validation and functional analysis
- Collaborate with our scientists on several projects in parallel
- Participate in the responsibility to set-up and develop the data analysis pipeline
- Have the opportunity to develop your own research project and apply for scientific funding
Required qualifications
- PhD, Diploma or equivalent qualification in Bioinformatics/Informatics or relevant field
- At least 3 years of experience in sequence data analysis
- Experience in NGS data analysis (454, Illumina, SOLiD)
- Basic knowledge of statistics (R, SAS, Matlab or similar)
- In depth programming skills, at least one language (Perl, Python, Java, C++)
- Commitment and dedication to your work
Desirable qualifications
- Successful interdisciplinary collaborations
- Experience using compute clusters and LINUX
- Know-how on the use of high volume data
