Dr.Xue was trained in the laboratory of Dr.Xiang-Dong Fu at University of California, San Diego(2010-2015),where he documented two suprising neuronal trans-differentiation RNA programsthat can directly convert fibroblasts into functional neurons:
Direct conversion of fibroblasts to neurons by reprogramming PTB-regulated microRNA circuits. Cell. 2013 Jan 17; 152(1-2):82-96
Sequential regulatory loops as key gatekeepers for neuronal reprogramming in human cells. Nat Neurosci. 2016 Jun;19(6):807-15.
The Xue lab’s immediate research goal is to further delineate the unique functional mechanism
of RNA binding protein and ncRNAs in transcriptional regulation during cell fate determination,
and understand how these misregulation contribute to human disease.
