Description:
The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a facility of Louisiana State University System, is seeking to hire a Research Associate to assist in the Genomic Core Facility operations. The Core Facility supports multiple projects and research initiatives. The Center's facility includes next generation sequencing, robotics and many other instruments. The technician will assist in maintaining liquid handling robots, qPCR machines, capillary sequencers and other instruments in the Core as well as running and monitoring next generation sequencing instruments. The job also entails training technicians and other center staff on instruments, and frequent contact with center staff.
Qualifications:
The ideal applicant has appropriate university degree (Bachelor degree or technical school training as a technician). Prior experience in molecular biology or genomics and practical knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and its operation are preferred. Awareness of Next-Generation Sequencing technology is desirable. Expertise with Windows OS is necessary. The candidate should be able to enjoy working in a service team, in a highly collaborative environment. Strong organizational, problem solving, and communication skills along with the ability to interact with GCF users in English and to work in an international team are essential.
