Faculty Position in Bioinformatics
The Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics at the Moffitt Cancer Center is seeking a faculty member (Assistant or Associate Member) with bioinformatics expertise. Experience with big data, genomics or other ‘omics types is desired, particularly in RNA sequencing technologies such as RNA isoforms and/or single-cell RNASeq analysis techniques. Areas of research interest include, but are not limited to, analytical techniques supporting RNAseq gene expression, next-generation sequencing or other ‘omics technologies with an emphasis on biomedical applicability. Other expertise of interest includes systems biology, network-based or pathway-based analysis for biological networks.
The Moffitt Cancer Center offers many opportunities to collaborate with clinical, population and basic science investigators. The Department currently has 11 faculty engaged in both original research in data science as well as a wide range of collaborative research on clinical and biological studies in cancer including novel therapeutic and drug discoveries, prognostic and predictive biomarker development, high throughput genomics, proteomics, next-generation sequencing, RNASeq expression, and personalized medicine studies. Many of these projects draw upon Moffitt’s Total Cancer Care initiative, which provides access to a comprehensive set of clinical and molecular profiling data (gene expression and next- gen sequencing) on a large number of cancer patients.
Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics or related field and relevant research training and experience. We seek candidates who can contribute to current studies at Moffitt, as evidenced by a history of both collaborative and independent peer-reviewed publications and involvement in funded studies. Academic rank beyond Assistant Member will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Appointment at the Associate Member rank requires a minimum of five years of experience at the Assistant Member (or Assistant Professor) level. The position is tenure-earning in the collaborative scientist track. Salary is competitive and Moffitt excels in the area of incentives and work environment.
