  • Bioinformatics post-doctoral fellow

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow interested in investigating inter- and intra-tumor genetic heterogeneity in cancers. The projects are based on high-depth bulk tumor sequencing, single-cell sequencing and plasma DNA sequencing to understand the process of progression from in situ to invasive breast cancer, from invasive breast cancer to metastatic disease, and resistance to specific therapeutic agents.

Our laboratory focuses on inter- and intra-tumor genetic heterogeneity, and the use of a combination of pathology tools and cutting-edge genomics methods to understand the biological basis and clinical impact of intra-tumor genetic heterogeneity, and to discover and validate novel biomarkers to address the challenges posed by intra-tumor genetic heterogeneity.
Applicants should hold a PhD degree in bioinformatics or computational biology, or a PhD in a biology-related field but extensive experience in bioinformatics, and have previous experience and track record in massively parallel sequencing data analysis. For the bioinformatics analyst position, experience and track record in massively parallel sequencing data analysis are essential.

Our laboratory offers a multidisciplinary and vibrant environment, with molecular biologists, pathologists and computer scientists working together to address questions that are germane to the understanding of breast and endometrial cancers. Currently, our team has two bioinformatics engineers, one bioinformatics analyst and one bioinformatics post-doctoral fellow in addition to lab bench researchers. We are seeking to expand our bioinformatics group to interrogate the data currently being generated in our in-house projects. We offer competitive salaries and benefit packages. The position is available immediately.

Informal inquiries may be made to Jorge Reis-Filho at [email protected] or Britta Weigelt at [email protected].

Advancing Precision Medicine for Rare Diseases in Children
    by seqadmin

Many organizations study rare diseases, but few have a mission as impactful as Rady Children’s Institute for Genomic Medicine (RCIGM). “We are all about changing outcomes for children,” explained Dr. Stephen Kingsmore, President and CEO of the group. The institute’s initial goal was to provide rapid diagnoses for critically ill children and shorten their diagnostic odyssey, a term used to describe the long and arduous process it takes patients to obtain an accurate...
