Post-doctoral fellowship in bioinformatics and next-generation sequencing analysis in cancer research
Responsibilities: We are seeking a qualified bioinformatician to work on next-generation sequencing projects in the area of cancer DNA-seq mutation analysis and RNA-seq gene expression profiling (Translational Oncogenomics Unit) as well as characterization of DNA binding proteins by ChIP-seq (Functional Genomics Unit), and integration of these datasets with other genomic data such as from SNP/CNV arrays, gene expression microarrays, as well as with clinicopathological and patient data. Projects underway will analyze over 1500 human tumors per year on our two Illumina GA IIx's and HiSeq 2000 sequencers, two in-house computing clusters, as well as utilizing the available national computing infrastructure.
The successful applicant will be working in close collaboration with other research Units of the Canceromics Branch (including a half-dozen other bioinformaticians) as well as within national and international collaborations.
Requirements: Applicants must hold a PhD in bioinformatics/computer science/mathematics or equivalent and have a strong desire to work in the field of bioinformatics and cancer research. The successful applicant will be well versed in computer programming, with previous experience with analysis of next-generation sequencing data and scripting using R/Bioconductor/perl being a plus.
The duration of the position will be at least 2 years.
